Retaining walls

Retaining walls are basic engineering structures. Their main function is to protect against soil displacement, which allows for much greater land development possibilities than when using slopes.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

Production process of retaining walls

We manufacture retaining walls in specially prepared moulds adapted to the geometry of the prefabricated element. Retaining walls are usually manufactured in a horizontal position.

Production capabilities of retaining walls

We offer prefabricated retaining walls with 'L' and 'T' shaped cross-sections (with symmetrical and asymmetrical bases). We normally produce elements with a height of up to 4.5 m and a modular length of 1.0 m. We also carry out orders for custom design projects.

Design capabilities of retaining walls

When designing angle plate retaining walls, it is necessary to check the forces caused by earth pressure on the element and the load from the ground level. Retaining walls are also checked for: stress distribution in the ground beneath the footing (resistance condition), displacement condition and rotation condition.

Transport of retaining walls

Prefabricated elements are transported upright or lying down, depending on the retaining wall height. For transport, it is recommended to use cranes equipped with adjustable slings to ensure uniform load on all transport hooks.

Installation of retaining walls

Elements should be placed on non-swelling ground compacted to at least ID of 0.6; below the frost zone, and on a layer of lean concrete. Prefabricated retaining walls have mounting grips for proper handling and installation of the elements. Retaining walls should be backfilled with non-cohesive backfill soil (gravel, aggregate). The backfill should be applied in layers and compacted appropriately.
