Description of execution
Our company had the opportunity to produce and deliver prefabricated noise barriers for the construction of the D1 motorway in Slovakia. For this project, we produced more than 8,700 m² of acoustic panels, corresponding to more than 1,100 elements. Screens on sections of the motorway totalling nearly 3 kilometres in length were designed in 4 variants, differing in the thickness of the expanded clay concrete layer at the front of the element and the additional expanded clay concrete layer at the back of the screen.
The following were delivered to the construction site:
- 70 panels with a 12 cm reinforced concrete layer and an 11 cm expanded clay concrete layer (the rear, reinforced concrete part of the panels has a broom-finished surface) – TYPE 1
- 120 panels with a 12 cm reinforced concrete layer and an 11 cm expanded clay concrete layer (the rear, reinforced concrete part of the panels is covered with a 2 cm layer of expanded clay concrete) – TYPE 2
- 561 panels with a 12 cm reinforced concrete layer and a 15 cm expanded clay concrete layer (the rear, reinforced concrete part of the panels has a broom-finished surface) – TYPE 3
- 415 panels with a 12 cm reinforced concrete construction layer and a 15 cm expanded clay concrete layer (the rear, reinforced concrete part of the panels is covered with a 2 cm layer of expanded clay concrete) – TYPE 4
All panel types had a sound insulation level of 45dB, which corresponds to insulation class B4. The sound absorption index for type 1 and 2 panels was 8 dB, which corresponds to sound absorption class A3, while type 3 and 4 panels had an index of 12 dB, which corresponds to class A4. The use of fly-ash concrete provided an additional decorative effect. Another unusual solution is the sinusoidal cut-out in the lower, nearly 500 panels.
Due to their shape, the acoustic panels were delivered in rectangular and trapezoidal shapes. The maximum dimensions of the elements reach 5.85×1.50 m.
The construction site in Slovakia is not the first foreign project where we have delivered noise barriers. Our panels are very popular in Central Europe. We have delivered noise barriers to the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
